It's at 301 Park Avenue in NYC! I got married there and, hopefully one day, I'll get a permanent residence. I will never again have to worry about anything domestic-related and I won't have to stress about 'stuff' to own and to maintain. I'll be able to spend all of my time in art galleries, museums and libraries and all of my money on riding horses.

I live in Australia. My dream home is a 100 acre farm about an hour south of Sydney. It has part natural bush including big sandstone rocks (to connect to the earth on) and some grassland. There is a stream or small river running through it. There are kangaroos, rabbits, koalas and lots of other native wildlife living there. There would be an open-plan house with wide verandahs all around and plenty of windows to catch the light and fresh air. There would be a long driveway so I would be isolated from the road. There would be lots of my family and friends visiting and the house would be filled with laughter, peace, love and happiness. We would have fresh eggs from our free range chickens and grow our own vegetables and fruit. Life would be simple and it would be a sanctuary from the loudness of the world.

An old farmhouse ecologically retro fitted to utilize things like passive solar, with a south facing front yard to grow herbs and climbing roses, on a hill to utilize grey water efficiently, compost toilets (yes I really do fantasize about compost toilets), an old barn for animals-- a cow, a horse, barn cats, and a greasil-powered old Bently, next to National Forest, and not more than 2 hours via train to NYC. A wide, child safe stream/rivulet with drinkable water on the property, and neighbors who share our desire to help the earth renew, as well as a little writer's shack for me, a ways out in the woods, and an apothecary/greenhouse. Fertile fields for vegetables and orchards, and lots of wild flowers. Small town in bike or horse distance for needs and socializing.

I don't know where i will end up. But I think it will be in the country, surrounded by trees and fields, with a nice view from my kitchen window. Somewhere where I can see the stars at night, and hear the crickets chirping.

Here. This home. In Los Angeles. Fixed up. With a pool. And the garage/guesthouse is a wholly creative space -- dance floor, piano, juke box, ping pong table, picnic benches, bar, and grill! :))) (wow. that makes me really happy envisioning that!!)

A modern style home using warm natural materials that is full of color and light and located on Martha's Vineyard or the Massachusetts shore. Not too large, but ample enough to comfortably host groups of friends. A main home and a linked guest house. Both homes would be environmentally sensitive and rely on alternative energy sources.

A white cottage with porches in the back and front and a picket fence. It would have window boxes with roses and a yellow door. It would be on the water because I find that extremely soothing. I think it would be somewhere on the West Coast (California, Oregon, Washington - not sure yet).

I kind feel like I'm already living in my dream home. Not because the house has the perfect floor plan, or includes the wood floors I love, or is even in my favorite location - in fact, it's none of those things. But, we're warm, we're together, we're relatively happy... Today, it's perfect for us and I'm glad I can feel this way. I hope I can feel the same way in the future, no matter what we're living in (ideally that would be something medium-sized, secluded, surrounded by trees, on a decent amount of land for the kids to play, with an office for him and a creative studio for me...)

A beach house on Coronado Island, with a studio off from the house to write in. Balconies for my cats to lounge on. Mediterranean, the style of the house that is. Though I would also be willing to consider a house in the area as well.

Italian Mediterranean scene with garden. Interior full of silk & linen sofas, cushions, beds for guests. A design/writing space with a sunlit view. Lots of laughter, fresh food, family & friends. A glorious creative place to be.

I would juxtapose it with a low maintenance home in Tofino, on the beach, with huge windows from which to watch the storms and a fireplace to retreat to.

I've always loved cozy, little houses and that's what I have right now. And it's perfect because it is close to everything but backs to a forever wild filled with beautiful trees, deer, fox, and wild turkey that actually eat out of my hand. I come home to my little cocoon, complete with my 4 Boston Terriers, curl up in front of the woodstove, sip a glass of cab -- what could be more heavenly?

My dream home has always been my grandmother's home where I spent weekends as a child. She and my grandfather moved in when they were newlyweds in the 1930's. It's a small wooden house with special touches my grandfather added: a closed in porch off the kitchen door for catching breezes, glass faceted door knobs, and a tiny room for sewing and reading off the den. It has wonderful hardwood floors and lots of windows. My mother's tiny handprints are in the cement that supports the mailbox and the back yard is an eden of wild roses, swamp lilies, cactus & native plants that were started from small cuttings. My grandmother died last year and a new owner will be moving in soon. I'm grateful that someone will be calling that wonderful place home. Secretly wish it was me.

My dream home would be an older house with shutters and a wrap around porch that has comfy chairs for reading or relaxing, a table for eating and playing games on, and a porch swing for cuddling and/or napping. There is a casual easy-care flower/vegetable garden and lots of grass. Big beautiful windows let in the sunshine and warm breezes and the floors are original, worn wood. The decor is an eclectic mix of white slipcovered pieces, tables and chairs found at yard sales and antique shops, clear glass bowls and candle holders containing shells, rocks, and an odd mix of trinkets I've collected on my vacations, and bookcases with lots and lots of books. There's a finished attic with a big soft comfy chair and a table/desk that I use as my reading/crafting/escape from life zone. Stop by for a chat anytime...

A big farmhouse with property and acreage, a barn for the horses, lots of trees, and nature everywhere. I want room to roam, and run, and live without fences or neighbors. I want to have enough space to adopt all the children and all the animals that need a home. I want to be able to keep the doors open for whoever needs to come and find peace and love within the walls of my home. I want to live uncomplicated and simple.

My dream home is a city mansion, made of stone, either in Pittsburgh to be close to home or in Quebec City because I love everything about that place.

It's that kind of home because I love old architecture and I was meant to live in the city. Growing up in the country, I enjoyed it but it isn't for me by myself, and I like those two cities because of prozimity and then cobblestones.

I like the old romance of places. I don't think I would want to live anywhere that was too new.
