  • Thanks for the great list! I, too, love the King and Tharp books. Here are a few more that I've found especially inspirational: Henry Miller on Writing (by Henry Miller), The Art of Hunger (by Paul Auster), and Bird by Bird (by Anne Lamott). Enjoy.

  • Yes! Tharp, Cameron and Goldberg are favourites of mine. I look forward to checking out the others. I have to watch the fine balance between reading about writing and actually sitting down and getting things on the page...sometimes reading about writing is a cozy little hiding place for me when I'm blocked.

    I've heard great things about Bird by Bird as well, though I have not read it yet.
  • I concur on the Goldberg and Tharp books -- both are fabulous! I agree the suggestion of Bird by Bird in the comments as well. It's self-deprecating, wise and rich with insight. And often very funny!
  • Bird By Bird changed the way I saw writing -- everything is an opportunity and imperfection is a great place to start!
