Carrie and Danielle: Writing Books For Inspiration

Thanks for the great list! I, too, love the King and Tharp books. Here are a few more that I've found especially inspirational: Henry Miller on Writing (by Henry Miller), The Art of Hunger (by Paul Auster), and Bird by Bird (by Anne Lamott). Enjoy.

Yes! Tharp, Cameron and Goldberg are favourites of mine. I look forward to checking out the others. I have to watch the fine balance between reading about writing and actually sitting down and getting things on the page...sometimes reading about writing is a cozy little hiding place for me when I'm blocked.

I've heard great things about Bird by Bird as well, though I have not read it yet.

I concur on the Goldberg and Tharp books -- both are fabulous! I agree the suggestion of Bird by Bird in the comments as well. It's self-deprecating, wise and rich with insight. And often very funny!

Bird By Bird changed the way I saw writing -- everything is an opportunity and imperfection is a great place to start!
