Instead of Why can't I get it together you might ask, What is important for me to learn here? or instead of Why don't I want to do that? ask, What am I avoiding? or What do I prefer now? Instead of Why do I love daisies you might ask, What do I want to appreciate about daisies? ..Unsettled moments are gifts that can lead us to look in new places. Good luck!

Re: Why You Should Stop Asking Why

Great, thought-provoking post. Thank you.

I'm curious, though... for all of us that continually get mired in the 'whys' (Why can't I get it together? Why don't I want to do that? Why do I love daisies?... ad nauseum), what do you suggest we ask ourselves instead? What should we focus on? What, in the unsettled moments of our lives when these questions tend to creep in the most, what do you recommend to quell the anxiety?

Re: Why You Should Stop Asking Why

So well said. "WHY?" can really get in the way of being truly resilient. Why something has occurred is often not as important as WHAT you can do to create something differently. And...to give Why it's due...why do you love what you love? why do you believe what you believe? These are very powerful why questions. And before I take a big leap, I do liek to ask myself with a shrug, "Why the hell not?!"
