It is a loving act to truly show up and nurture and replenish ourselves on all levels - body, mind, heart and spirit. In my world of work - part of what I do is help people to heal from burnout and so often the path that has one arriving in a state of complete depletion began with the single steps away from self-care and self-love. I would revolutionize how we often put self-care and selfish in the same sentence - since this is a psychological sabbotage that gets in the way from really caring for ourselves. No one wants to be selfish - yet we all need and deserve to be happy and healthy and whole - these states, in my experience, come in part from daily loving self-care in the midst of all the roles we fulfill as women. We can do it...healthy, loving self-care is the place that the rest of our lives and roles flow from...self-care says - "I am important and valuable and I am my best self, best mother, best spouse, best human...when I am honouring myself through self-care." then this ripple of our one healthy vital self...is unstoppable in advancing everything else we want to revolutionize :)) with love from a self-care enthusiast, lynda

Re: What would you like to revolutionize?

I would like to make a shift in womens consciousness. We waste out time and intellect on purely superficial interests. When we think about living life to the full, it is suddenly food related. Sadly because that is always on our mind. Freedom is not being able to eat heaps of chocolate, it is to be able to fulfill your potential and use that godgiven intellect. It is to be a part of society , voicing opinions in debates and politics. Freedom is to raise your voice and be heard! I am tired of hearing about diets and " oh, I feel sooo fat"! Start loving yourself and make the world your main interest! Carpe diem!

Re: What would you like to revolutionize?

Most states have horse rescues and some even have hooved animal humane societies (Ohio, Illinois and Missouri have them). Other good orgs to check out are ReRun, Rolling Dog Ranch, Old Friends Equine, Standardbred Retirement Foundation and Ryerss retirement home for horses. Of course, anyone with two nickles to rub together can start a rescue - so as with any charity, you have to check them out. Most places will certainly let you sponsor one of their horses - a great gift for a horse-y child at Christmas!

Re: What would you like to revolutionize?

I would like to revolutionize:
1. healthcare for all U.S. citizens
2. the importance of the arts in the school system
3. sitting down and eating as a family
4. a co-op on each city and town where you can trade services, food from home gardens, tools, books and time.

Re: What would you like to revolutionize?

MY LIFE! Free education and healthcare for all!
2. A 4 day work week.
3. Give employees the option to telecommute depending on their occupation.
4. 30 days vacation standard for all employees
5. Band the chirping walkie-talkie phones.
6. Real, healthy options in public school cafeterias.
7. More home births.

Re: What would you like to revolutionize?

a little late....

The ego - the games, mind twists, perceptions of self and others.
Let's get real and in touch with our hearts!

Re: What would you like to revolutionize?

Good luck if you can even get 6 weeks- and forget about getting paid while you're off. The health care system is the US is a total disgrace. That is what I would revolutionize. And it's not like we have to reinvent the wheel here, you know. So many other countries are already doing it right. And the fact that your employment is tied to your health insurance is the worst thing ever. My husband has a sales rep out of work for 7-8 weeks because she broke her ankle. She only had accumulated enough vacation time to pay her through the first couple of weeks. Beyond that, she was facing not getting paid at all while she's supposed to be recovering. Luckily for her, my husband and some co-workers donated portions of their own paid vacation time to her so that she can continue to recuperate with her income intact. The lesson here in the States is Don't get Sick, Don't have an accident, it's every man for himself, and if you're not independently wealthy you are screwed.

Re: What would you like to revolutionize?

Like Carrie - Fast food values... and on that same topic I would like to revolutionize the Big Corporations' values. Where money is more important than human life!!!! We live in a world of abundance and yet human beings are starving are mistreated because the $ sign speaks louder than humanity. What a beautiful world it would be if that thought process could be changed at a 360 degree.

Re: What would you like to revolutionize?

The way we treat the homeless and the mentally ill in our country, which are frequently one and the same. I'd like some acreage with horses that are allowed to just be free and well cared for. Or I'd happily sponsor their care on someone else's land...If you have any resources, do send them my way.

Re: What would you like to revolutionize?

you should check out Women For Women International - it's our primary charity at Carrie & Danielle. My Swiss friend got his whole degree in architecture for... free. Med school...free. What an equalizer and liberator free education is. With free education and health care, we'd be on our way to utopia.

And while we're socializing the fundamental rights...I'd love to see a system where ADOPTION was not so cost prohibitive. There are many loving, conscious families who can't shell out $30-$50k to adopt a child, but who have the resources to care for them in every way.

Re: What would you like to revolutionize?

I second your thought...or third it, or fourth it! If you can't pronounce it, don't eat it! I'm not sure if you every saw Jamie Oliver's special on revolutionizing the British school cafeteria system but it was horrifying. Some of the children did not even know what broccoli was because they had never seen it before. There's something to say for 'eating clean'. I picked up a new magazine this week that is actually called 'Clean Eating' and loved what it had to say.

Re: What would you like to revolutionize?

I'm replying to this late as well but I too was like 'What? It alarms me that everyone is constantly on their cell phone, texting, and calling just to see what's happening. Real communication is postponed and people become anxious because they haven't heard back from someone for 15 minutes. I think this leaves everyone in a blur and very unsatisfied. Let someone know when and where you will meet. When you will be available. Don't get caught up in the junk and costly non-communication jungle. Make a decision and stick to it. There will be more clear communication, less interuptions and you will suddenly have more real time to think and be. Get to clear communication and turn off that cell phone.

Re: What would you like to revolutionize?

Here's to sisterhood!!

Re: What would you like to revolutionize?

I have never heard of an end-of-life doula, what lovely & compassionate work you provide.
