Carrie and Danielle: What have you done recently to make yourself feel proud?

  • Kim · 1 year ago
I am proud of my children. I am proud after many years of finally being able to go back to school. I am taking a creative writing course. I am proud of my marks and I will continue to explore my writing abilities.

Great question Keris. We so rarely let ourselves feel pride. I just said no to a job for next year that would take me away from the coaching work I love and I am proud of my ability to set limits. I am also proud of sticking to my no-caffeine promise!
  • Frances · 1 year ago
I went mountain biking and sea kayaking this summer and did much better than I though I would. As a former jock, now mother of 4 and woman of a certain age I didn't think I had it in me - but I still do!
  • CarrieM · 1 year ago
Bravo, once a jock always a jock!

I am proud to be a homeowner and pay my bills every month. I bought my home a year ago, right after my divorce and with an income that didn't come close to matching my monthly payments. I have grown my coaching practice over the last year and am proud to say that last month I earned double what I earned a year ago. So I am proud to be resourceful and forging ahead in spite of what the world is saying about our economy.

great message for the doom and gloom we hear in the press.

I'm proud that I finally started my own blog and staying open to the possibilities of having one. I'm very private. I prefer to stay in the background but the blog pushes me just a little bit more every week.
  • CarrieM · 1 year ago
I know how you feel. I was resistant to blogging, private and a little insecure, now love the platform it offers so many people. Way to go Chantal!
  • Chantal · 1 year ago
Thanks for the encouragement Carrie! It's always good to know I'm not alone.
  • CarrieM · 1 year ago

I’m proud of every day that passes in our stepfamily that we have all been kind to one another. It may sound trivial but with our dynamics, it‘s quite monumental and a huge blessing.
  • DanielleLaPorte · 1 year ago
kindness is never trivial - even for people with a harmonious history. way to make evolution and love happen!

I stood up for myself. I set some boundaries w friends. I know I deserve more RESPECT! I wrote my 24 New Year's Goals! I'm learning a new language-Spanish. I'm making more "ME" TIME! And I'm learning to say NO repeatedly. LOL

I'm proud that I remain optimistic whereas a lot of my classmates are becoming increasingly not haha! I'm proud of myself for taking time to do things that make me happy.
I'm proud of myself for prioritizing and spending time on things that are TRULY important to me.
I'm proud of myself for getting an article published. I'm proud of myself for making time for exercise as much as possible.

Writing and publishing my book "Style Beauty Trimness" makes me very proud. It has been something I wanted to do my entire life and something my dearest Grandmother wanted me to do. I have spent my life dreaming of it. Now it is a reality and it is such a wonderful feeling, I feel like I could dance with happiness.

    :)

    Fashionable Fun

I spent time repainting a plaque to hang at my door... "My Sister's Garden ~ Welcome!" I moved to a new house in Florida from MA in August and I brought my snow- and weather-beaten plaque with me. The time I spent painting enriched me in many ways. I can't wait to hang it to welcome my daughters, who are flying in today for Thanksgiving week. I also have done yoga every day except one for the last 10 days! I feel creative and content!

I listened to my intuition. I hired a snowplow guy. I made an appointment to have my furnace cleaned. I have been cooking more at home.
  • textimage · 1 year ago
Did a dropback/backbend at a Anusara Workshop, once in front of 75 yogi(ni)s and then again with some of my girls supporting me. What made this a proud moment is not that I did some killer yoga move but that I was scared of it, always scared of it and yet... I challenged myself and did something that felt beautiful! Having so many people witness that was only icing on the cake.

I'm proud that I don't have hate in my heart. There are things, bad things that happen to good people but I've learned that hating them doesn't help me. I do my best everyday to not be negative and judge others and I'm proud to say that I'm finally doing just that. People are who they are. Good or bad. Love them.

I am proud that I gave up my partying lifestyle and gave that time and energy to my little girl born with cerebral palsy. I have made it my life's work to try and ensure she will be an independant young woman, and yes, it doesn't leave much time for me - but I have changed from a selfish self-centred person to one who deeply cares about another human being...

looking at the photos I take of the world around me - that I am a creative soul (among other things). Producing beautiful things that others appreciate too makes me especially proud.

I've been siting here brushing my keyboard, checking e-mails every time I here one coming in and glancing out the window trying to distract myself from the fact that I really haven't done much to make me feel proud of myself lately. I feel weak (too much comfort food and no exercise because I'm stressed). But, I love well... how's that?

This year has been a year of change for me and I'm proud of myself for making it happen. Like Keris, I have taken steps to put me on the path of my dream job. One I never thought I'd have the confidence to do. I have also become pregnant for the second time, again something I never thought I'd do because of various problems the first time. With just one week of my pregnancy left to go I am still being positive and coping well. (Long may it continue!)
  • Keris · 1 year ago
Hey, Helen! My 4-year-old son's birth was traumatic and I didn't think I'd have another child, but here I am with six weeks to go! Good luck with the birth and good luck with the dream job!

I took a deep breath and spilled all my anxieties and fears out to my husband last night. And we talked and talked and talked about it all, and now I'm much feeling clearer. I'm proud to have a relationship that can take (and requires) complete honesty.

Just moments ago, I took a stand and acknowledged my worth in a budding relationship. It's been a long road to here and I'm proud of myself.

This question makes me realize that though I do things often that I could feel proud of, I spend much more time thinking about what I have left undone, what needs still to be accomplished... I am proud that I finished the first draft of my play, and that I have been working on the second. I am proud that I am learning forgiveness, for myself and others. I am proud that I keep moving towards my goals even when I feel like I am moving through molasses. And I am very proud to be surrounded by so many beautiful friends and loved ones.

I started giving glad money after reading Pema's review of the book How To Solve All Of Your Money Problems Forever. I quickly (almost as soon as it hits my hands or bank account) give a percentage of any money that comes my way. I truly give it gladly. It feels great.
  • DanielleLaPorte · 1 year ago
it works! I'm looking for new ways to give as well.

I'm working on this. Its a nasty habit of mine not to feel pride at all.

I've had a great creative year in general -- wrote, directed and edited a short film, curated an art show, finished a lot of long-term writing projects. I'm also proud of taking ballet classes again after many, many, MANY years!

Restrained myself with my daughter in a difficult situation, letting it go and letting her make her life her way. On the other hand, taking a chance on a new relationship with a funny man I do like.

I'm proud that I recently spoke at an industry conference and received great feedback and was then invited to do another presentation at a bigger conference later this year. It makes me proud because about a year ago, I had set the goal of becoming a recognized expert in my industry. While I'm not near reaching that goal yet, this was the first major step in that direction and it made me feel invigorated.

I left the wonderful life I spent two years building because my life was in danger because an ex-boyfriend was upset that I ended the relationship. I started over from scratch, instead of letting the experience ruin my life, and as difficult as it has been, I am starting to become the person I would like to be.
