I have two voices. To be honest with you, there is one that overpowers a quiter one. The louder one tells me good things, but I have yet to determine whether or not it's being legit, or just saying things I want to hear. My quieter voice one, I really have to listen to, but it has been right in the past. I'd like to try and date someone right now, and I have my eye on a guy at my school, but the quiet voice is saying "No." when I ask if he and I will date. I asked if I would date the last guy I went for, my quiet voice said "No" but my louder one said "Yes" and he ended up being a complete jerk. This new one seems different though. I know he is. I don't know if that sounds petty or hopeful, but he is definetely not like the other. My louder voice is trying to tell me that he and I will make it as a couple but my quiet one is putting me down. Which one do I listen to?

The truly evil voice says that "All is empty. Your words are empty. Your thoughts, they're empty. You're just trying to act all real and profound. You just want their attention and awe. You're not really like that, and you know it, you ingenuine b*****. You should be doing better, trying harder, and you're just making these efforts to avoid doing any real work. They're all going to abandon you for something better."

She's amazingly mean, and I can't believe that I put up with her, even as a nine-year-old kid!

As I've got ADD, I've got a whole plethora of different 'little voices' - mainly telling me to eat more vegetables, or do my laundry. I've got another little voice that tends to want to expect the worse out of every situation... one that keeps dwelling on the past... another that keeps obsessing about the future.

my little voice has become more mellow over the years. She used to say "you idiot! " followed by whatever it was that caught me up. Now she says " ok, that wasn't your best shot - so what are you going to do about it". Much more usefull

My little voice sounds surprisingly a lot like Chicken Little - "The sky is falling! The sky is falling!". I'm trying to get it to sound a lot more like the Little Engine that Could - "I think I can! I think I can!" I'm working very hard right now at trying to quiet the anxiety that is always waiting for the world to cave in and listen to the encouraging voice that believes in me and trusts the process of life.

I'm learning how to listen to my own voice and (sorry Mom) not that of my Mom - the perpetual worrier. I love her very very much but if it were up to her, I'd probably be back on the farm in Alberta, eating perogies. Instead I have just gotten a promotion to Editor-in-Chief of a magazine in California, and am discussing the serious possibility of a year sabbatical in France with my husband.

I will still visit Mom, but I've let go (and am careful)...

My little voice says "ARE YOU SURE"?! I am the one standing in the line up to buy something & then leave to put half of what I have in my arms back, and pick up more things that I wanted in the first place!! I am a real 'second guesser'!

My critical voice says I'm worthless because I don't have enough money, I'm getting old, I'm not pretty (thin, young, etc) enough, I'm deluded, I don't have enough impulse control, I'm a fraud.

My other voice says "Wow - look at how you truly help people change their lives for the better!"

My little voice is enough to drive me mad. It never stops reviewing every detail of my life. However, as much as the constant dialogue drives me batty, it has been quite reliable in warning off situations I should stay clear of, so I guess that's why I listen.

I'm so glad to see that I'm not the only one who has multiple voices in her head. The most assertive and powerful voice in my head says "Kick it woman!" The insecure voice in my head says "You don't deserve anything good. You're not good enough." While the assertive voice is louder, the insecure voice talks much more frequently.

My little voice is, for the most part, my inner critic - an endless stream of commentary. My other little voice isn't so little - more like inner vision, and when it speaks, all else is quiet and I will follow it without question...I've learned to trust that voice above all else.

Okay I have the full panoply of voices and they all vie for my attention. Sometimes, my truest authentic self's voice is "little" and thankfully today she is taking up her full rightful space. It is a beautiful thing to hear, "Honey- you are awesome. Keep doing what you are doing becasue it is working- and both you and the people around you are better for it!" It's all about which litle voice you chose to listen to...

I'm with you, Traci. You'd think that, as I got older, I would overpower my voice that says "You're ridiculous" (and worse, much worse). But it seems to have gotten louder over the years. :-( Let's kill them all, I say!

My little voice is very very supportive and believes in me. Sometimes it's overshadowed by a louder, more critical, anxiety-ridden voice.
Slowly it's gaining it's own volume though :)
