Carrie and Danielle: What do you want to leave behind in order to start the New Year afresh?

  • GinaHyams · 11 months ago
Yes, I'm about to toss 1/3 of my wardrobe as well...cheers.
  • Kristin_The_Goat · 11 months ago
I'm leaving paper behind. I've been going through magazines, catalogs, files, paper in all forms - and tossing, recycling, shredding and just getting it out of my life. I don't need it.

I rarely print anything anymore. I don't keep paper in my printer, so that I have to physically get up, get the paper and feed it into the printer in order to print. It makes me think first before printing.

    Fear. Doubt. Self-loathing.
  • Alison · 11 months ago
    You said it.
  • Mary · 11 months ago
Anger - 10 year old anger to be exact. It is time to let it go and not be consumed or held back by it any longer.
  • Alison · 11 months ago
My anger is almost the same age. May we both be successful in letting go this coming year.

I would like to leave regrets behind. I've tried every year of my life and failed spectacularly. I have no reasons to believe this year will be any different but there's always hope somehow. Oh and twenty pounds too. We could all do with leaving x pounds behind, right?

Playing small will be a thing of my past. Harshness while playing bigger will be toned down and turned into firm but loving kindness. I also plan to let go of being right, and open up more to curiosity.

    Apathy
  • Tabitha · 11 months ago
15 pounds, my issues with my parents, my low self esteem.
  • Uncle Beefy · 11 months ago
That overly critical inner-voice and the need to try to control everything! I'd like to be more gracious in just opening up to what the universe may be gifting me rather than try to dissect it or find where the guaranteed outcome is. Just breathe and surrender.

Senseless self-doubt and my sad excuse of an immune system (Christmas was spent in the bathroom...joy).
  • debbierodgers · 11 months ago
LOL Danielle - at first I thought you meant "about 10 pounds of blame" - or maybe you do ;-)

I need to lose some physical & mental clutter relating to an old eBay business. I need to leave that behind for good.

    Thoughts of "can't be done."
  • Kim · 11 months ago
I wish to leave behind abuse, cruelty and blame that never belonged to me.

You can. Echhart Tolle says, 'The past has no power over us."

Work that I do not feel passionate about.

  • NGONZI · 11 months ago
Rushing everywhere! Trying to DO everything! My false sense of control over people and things! I can only control what I do and my reaction to others...I can't control them!
  • lisaohhh · 11 months ago
attachment to my old, played-out, poor-me stories. they usually start like this: "But..."

the extra weight i put on in 08!
  • NGONZI · 11 months ago

  • Rushmi · 11 months ago
Great question - I am leaving behind Old worn out views of success and writing my own definition of success for me and my family for 2009. Also need to leave behind the 10lbs left from my baby who is now 13 months old. Oh what a feeling, 2008 was awesome - I can't wait to see what great things unfold for 2009. Happy New Year Carrie and Daniel -

    All credit card debt!
  • Jess · 11 months ago
Much of past situations I sometimes replay in my head that do me no good haha
Any wardrobe that doesn't reflect my new style, any negative thoughts that I can't do what I set my mind to (I CAN! Haha).
  • Therese · 11 months ago
Alcohol and all of the baggage that goes with it for me.
  • Meredith · 11 months ago
My really lame, immature bad habit of falling for bad boys. (I can still have fun with them though, right? Just no falling. Absolutely no falling.)

I also want to leave behind any feelings of inferiority that weighs me down and holds me back from harnessing my full, awesome, kick-a@# potential - hmmmm maybe once I do, the bad boy thing will fix itself (light bulb moment here!)
  • Linda Borland-Fitzgerald · 11 months ago
Excesses, especially food so I can feel really healthy and procrastination that has become a bad habit... "I'll do that, when I finish this." Not working for me...
  • Alison · 11 months ago
Ah... Fear, anger, illness and shame. All of them are roughly the same thing, really.
  • Cobby · 11 months ago
I want to leave behind the stalled place I've hit in my career, any frumpy clothes in my closet, clutter in the house and my habitual lack of exercise that I get.
  • Christopher · 11 months ago
    Negative thoughts.

2009 is the year of the Sublime.
  • waggish · 10 months ago
What to leave behind, or better yet what to create:

No dwelling on why, where, how I got to here; instead I will continue on sharpening my focus and designing a rich and waggish lifestyle that allows me to move with ease , grace, and appreciation

Paper. Denial. 20 pounds. My marriage
  • GenuineTreasure · 10 months ago
I want to give up Expectations. I want to live my life based on what feels right for me, not on what I "should" be doing or what others expect of me. Instead of expecting certain things, I want to be open to experience anything that comes my way. I also want to stop expecting too much of others, and to accept them as they are and to appreciate their uniqueness.

    Sorrow and regret.
