Carrie and Danielle: What do you know the most about?

  • Daniel Gibbons · 1 year ago
Apologies for the minor glitch with the email this morning. Everything now seems to be working.
  • Jennifer Sage · 1 year ago
For about 45 years I have had an interest and have read almost continuously in the area of human development and spirituality. This has been most useful to me in the past 5 years working in a hospice as a nurse.
In my twenties and thirties it was mostly a "selfish" interest but now life experience and knowledge are married into wisdom. The miricale of alchemy at work.
I am fairly good at beauty making in my home too.
  • Ella · 1 year ago
    Food. Movies.

    Repeat.
  • Kristin · 1 year ago
I know far too much about navigating European airports and discount airlines, and could plan a European holiday for any tastes. Otherwise I'm full of basically useless information that comes in handy at pub quizzes and at dinner parties.
  • Jess · 1 year ago
I know an obscene amount of pop culture. I'm the one friends ask for updates haha! I also have a pretty good wealth of knowledge about upcoming trends.

On a more spiritual/emotional wellbeing side - I know a lot about forgiving myself, and learning to be authentically myself. I struggle so much with trying to be perfect sometimes, or being upset because I AM upset (whether for a legitimate reason or not), that I've been trying to read up on being okay with all those warts of mine.
  • Kath · 1 year ago
I know far too much about pop culture. I endlessly frustrate myself by not retaining important information but having perfect recall of all of the names of Brangelina's children...

But my specialist subject would be using art and creativity as a force for change. While there's always more to learn, I've finally got to a point where I can come into work and not feel like I'm going to be 'found out' as a fraud, so I guess that means I know my stuff.
  • licarrit · 1 year ago
I know an awful lot about human nature, not from any scholarly studies but because I spent a good part of my adult life working as a nanny and in retail, both of which depend on "reading" people. Other than that, sewing, fashion, food, what's sexy -not necessarily in that order!
  • Chantal · 1 year ago
Energy is my forté. I can see it, feel it, touch it, mold it, create it, describe it, move it around, play with it.
  • Nancy · 1 year ago
It may not be the most important thing in the world, but I know too much about fashion. It has been a hobby of mine since I was a very little girl. I know all the tricks and secrets to looking as nice as possible in clothing. What styles are slimming? What styles are conservative? What styles are chic? What styles are casual? Etc. It is kind of ridiculous, because I honestly think I have read every fashion related history book ever printed! LOL! Oh well, guess we all have to know something. :)
  • Nancy · 1 year ago
LOL! I forget the important things too! But I can talk forever about clothing!
  • Joannie · 1 year ago
I wish I were possible to ask you questions, Jennifer.
  • Joannie · 1 year ago
I forgot half of conversations. The beginning, end or middle jokes, important dates and even the times my children were born but do I forget anything about movies, actors, directors - even movies I HAVEN'T seen? Oh, no - that s*** I remember FOREVER. What IS that about?
  • Joannie · 1 year ago
Whoa! Does that ever sound wonderful. Is it?
  • Joannie · 1 year ago
I know the most about trivia! Then I know a great deal about sexual abuse, both personally and professionally. I also know a lot about death, dying, grief, bereavement, addiction, recovery, and other stuff I've forgotten! :)
  • ElegantDiscovery · 1 year ago
I know a lot about fashion, style and expressing yourself in a way that reflects your true essence.
  • JSuz · 1 year ago
Ancient Egypt -- ancient cultures in general, but a LOT about Egypt. Nutrition. Narcissism. And more Egypt ... ; ) And ask me about the BARF (Bones-And-Raw-Food) program for your pet -- can go on for days!
  • Girl-Woman · 1 year ago
Words. As a court reporter for 30 years, sometimes I was charged with the responsibility of transcribing words mumbled, mumbled from foreign languages, or a purely mumbled made-up word, such as, "How did you configurate that graph?"

I seem to have an innate knowledge of teaching odd dogs tricks, too: Both dogs wipe their feet on the outdoor rug like bulls ready to charge the matador, and the little chihuahua does his business in a litter box. LOL.
  • Traci · 1 year ago
Hmmm....good question. Of the things I know a lot about, I'm honestly not sure what I know the MOST about. But I WANT to know the most about maximizing my time and skill for writing.
  • Lyn · 1 year ago
I know a lot about mindfulness meditation, writing and creativity. Now if I would only PRACTICE!
  • Cindy - Classic Creative · 1 year ago
I know a lot about self-knowledge, movies, and spirituality. I am extremely introspective, which is both a blessing and a struggle at times. I love spending time alone, but I also would like to have intimacy with a few key people.
  • Amy Guth · 1 year ago
I feel like a know a bit about a lot, and am wondering about the overall theme of the things I do know. It seems like everything I know a bit about somehow is connected to improving, restoring or streamlining a given situation.
  • bene · 1 year ago
I know a lot about art, aesthetics, beauty and form. That is my passion. My other passion is humans and I know a lot about them, too;) Art and humanity walk hand in hand. The greatest pisces of art touch our commonness, that we are all humans and alike. There is no greater, there is no smaller, just equality!

I know how receiving an unexpected card can brighten a day, touch a heart or even change a life. I love to think about the joy that I spread every day as I send cards to the people in my life.
  • Ellen · 1 year ago
I'm with you, Joannie - my head is full of trivia of all kinds. I also know a lot about sexual abuse and Dissociative Identity Disorder.

Your 'style statement' name seems perfectly chosen...
  • Linda Borland-Fitzgerald · 1 year ago
I know people best, I suppose. As a writer and story-teller, I like to watch and wonder. My husband watches me watching sometimes and when I catch his eye, he just smiles knowingly. But, maybe I know almost as much about creating beauty, especially in my home and now maybe others homes?? My website (first page) is 'live.' Yaaay me!
  • laurie_matthews · 1 year ago
Cultural landscape preservation, pop culture, tennis, the Red Sox, and photography. What a crazy group of things!
  • Rushmi · 1 year ago
I know a lot about Social graces. raising my childeren. Taking care of myself. experimental cooking. reading my husbands mind before he evens has a thought in it.
  • weezie · 1 year ago
At first my answer was going to be food, cooking, and fiction, but when I read through the other answers I realized that I, too, know WAY too much about pop culture, shoes, movies, and fashion. I know more than most of my age-group about computers. On a more worthwhile note, I know a lot about non-profit grantsmanship.
  • Kim · 1 year ago
Transformation of pain and suffering. It seems my life and work has offered the experience to repeatedly sink into the depths of pain and suffering so that I could repeatedly practice the tools of awareness, detachment, and total love and acceptance.

Despite 8 years of study of psychology, and years as a therapist and facilitator, I really began to learn after studying with mystic Mada Dalian. I repeatedly witnessed; connection and wholeness is always resting inside, waiting for my time and attention. Everything moves around the still center. Nothing to do but cultivate the observer and the ego drops.

    Thanks Mada. Bless you.

I am going to have to say once again, Books. mostly fiction. I do have a few favorite authors and read a lot of suspense and do like certain series. I am always looking for some books to complete certain series that I read.
  • jen · 1 year ago
First of all, I bow down in respect to the hospice nurse.

Secondly, I know a lot about food, cooking, and movies. I have also acquired a bit of knowledge raising two daughters!
  • Kristin (the Goat) · 1 year ago
That sounds like an invitation! (to plan a trip for someone)
  • Kristin (the Goat) · 1 year ago
I do that, too. I dont' send cards every day, but I send cards monthly.
  • Wazzy · 1 year ago
I know a lot about the library. I go a lot, and I can find a book very easily. Dorky but true!
  • Kristin (the Goat) · 1 year ago
I know a lot about the human Liver. My husband had a liver transplant & I now work with other pre and post transplant patients. Mostly we just talk & I learn more about that amazing organ each day. I also know a lot about cleaning products (what works and what doesn't) and how to paint a room and what products work and don't. I'm sure there's more, but this is a good list.

I know a lot about fashion and pop culture and southern german cuisine.

I am the same way - have lots of interests and read about different areas but I can't say that I'm an expert. Did you find the book helped you to see the connection of your interests? I think that this has been the most amazing website/book for realizing that my interests have a theme to them as well and it was the basis for finding my first word.
  • Carrie McCarthy · 1 year ago

Having worked in the travel industry for more than 30 years, I am an expert on why people should book through a real travel agent instead of thinking they can do it on-line or have a friend do it for them.
  • Elisabeth · 1 year ago
I know too much about bilingualism, especially in children, for someone who is neither parent nor researcher. I am in danger of launching into the topic at the slightest provocation, if anyone should happen to mention grade-school immersion programs or dare to complain of immigrants' lack of English skills. It's embarrassing, really. ;)
  • heather · 1 year ago
Careful, you might get a lot of requests for help!
  • Krystl · 1 year ago
I'm not really an expert in anything. I'm a true dilettante - I know a little about about many, many things. I used to hate that about myself, but I've come to embrace my broad interests. I can have a decent conversation with almost anyone. As for the things I know most about... hmmm... travel planning, cooking, science fiction, New York City, photography, street fashion, Boston Terriers, spelling...
  • roshbosh · 1 year ago

I know alot about positive communication: How to frame any comment, question or suggestion using positive language. I presented on this topic a few years ago from coast to coast. Everything can be communicated in a positive, friendly, inviting way, if we so choose. That's the really hard part - to choose to communicate positively.

I also know a whole lot more than most women about the menstrual cycle and its far-reaching, complex connections to our sexual, reproductive and general health. I believe if we all knew more, girls and women would be much healthier and happier.
  • Lisa · 1 year ago
    I know a lot about...

XTC - awesome English pop group
transfering to a UC or CSU
SARS (the computer scheduling system, not the disease)

    Lisa (the Harmonious Wit!)

I know a lot about Acupuncture and it's power to aid in the healing process, I know a lot about exercise and strength training, about how to deal with people in a way that gives them what they need and encourages their process.

I also must admit to far too much knowledge of pop culture and the celebs...it is like the junk food in my week that I enjoy so much but know is bad for me. hehe
  • Ruth S. · 1 year ago
Don't know if that is considered a skill, but I know a lot about living in a country as a foreigner. I am a 5th generation migrant. My family has moved almost every generation.
Also, I am good at organizing and transforming problems and obstacles into opportunities. But I can only do that for myself. I am interested to learn how to motivate people so I can use that skill for something good. Currently, I am learning more about natural living and pregnancy.
  • Jennifer Sage · 1 year ago
I used to be a trivial pursuit queen because of this quirk. No one could beat me. Don't worry. You have a fabby and retentive memory and mind and you do eventually grow out of retaining "Lives of famous people" and get on with life (yours) as it is meant to be lived.

Boring machinery totally defeats me even stuff that I really should know how to work like what is under a car bonnet. If my husband goes oversea without me, something that happens now and then the local garage is put on high alert. "CAUTION MIDDLE AGED WOMEN IN SOLE CHARGE OF CAR AND MECHANICALLY CHALLENGED" They love it helping me with the tyres and filling it with petrol etc

I actually know quite a bit about relationships. I feel like I am the one all of my friends come to when they need a voice of reason when stuck with indecision or vague direction. I am not the type to just say what I think but rather help friends get to answers that they already knew. I wish I knew something more handy... like sewing! :)

I know a whole bunch about a mother's love. I've been in the hospital with viral meningitis, and my mom has been there with me the whole time and has taken me home now to recouperate with my dad and her. She has been spoiling her 39 year old baby, and I'm completely overwhelmed by her kindness and love. As a single woman, I don't know what I would have done with out her! All of you moms out there need to know how much you rock...even on a "not good mothering day". Thanks!

Nancy I love your comments about the right shade of pink. I have started wearing pink and it could be have said to have revolutionised my life. Finding your inner girly feminine side.

Cats are cool thing to know about. we can learn lots from a well loved cat about mental health and self care.

I believe I know most about how to make the most of every day. My husband says I know most how to love life and my daughters think I mostly know way too much about everybody.....and want to know why I care to know so many people and their stories. I know alot about health and wellness. I know much about thriving as a parent and nurturing a family life that doesn't include "crazy makers".
  • Elisabeth · 1 year ago
I'm like that too! I know a little about a lot. Besides what I said above, I could tell you a bit about English grammar, choosing the right dog, the pros and cons of consumer credit, getting healthy, not having kids... but I'm an expert on nothing. :)
  • marn · 1 year ago
I know most about breastfeeding - yes, would have to say that I literally could be a certified lactation consultant. Have had every ailment that goes along with it, and can diagnose a new mama's tata problems like that! I am very welcomed by the new breastfeeding mamas, in the mom & tot groups that I go to... :-P

I know a lot about genealogy research, scrapbooking, art, music, cooking and baking. I keep buying and reading books about creativity, mixed media, photography, color psychology, graphic design, personal branding, marketing, success, etc. but the more I read the more I know how little I really know! There is always something new to learn! One thing just leads to another.

I know about journeys, pain, laughter, blessings, joys, impossible love, to be unconditionally loved, friendship, I think I know most about friendship. I have friends that are strong and sure, others are comfort, others a good shoulder to cry on, and yet others are a laugh a minute! Yes friendship. I have been blessed with good and beautiful friends and hopefully blessed by being a good friend!

For better or for worse I know a lot about pop culture, I'm really good at forecasting trends, I know how to write a good letter, I know how to follow a good recipe and I would like to consider myself a good friend.
  • Kim · 12 months ago
I know about writing letters and cards to my family and dear friends. I have been writing letters since I was a child. My grandmother and her sisters lived out of town and it was the only way I had of keeping in contact. I write to everyone more often with the internet, but I still usually write a formal letter and attach it to the email. Letter is not a lost art, some of us keep it alive.
