Carrie and Danielle: What are you trying to achieve?

  • eloquencecomm · 1 year ago
I want to be an example for my daughters of a woman living wholly, with grace and compassion - committed to both my own self-expression and the honoring and facilitation of theirs. I want to help shape the language of businesses so that powerful, authentic communication is at the heart of all messages. I want to help others find their most authentic, powerful voice and use it in all aspects of their life, particularly in their work but most importantly... everywhere.

This was something that took quite a bit of time to come to but it was worth it: : I am like a deep well who seeks to draw people to the source of their vitality and inner soul; as people come and drink from the well, they find each other there and I have the privilege of witnessing the creation of community. Everything else I do is details.

I want to be an example for all the growing girls in my life by appreciating my body as is, and shwoing them that with hard work you can do what you want to do.
I want to achieve love and success - I refuse to choose.

Oh, Carrie, I so know what you mean when you say you're trying to get out of your own way. That's my goal, too! I'm trying to get out of my own way so I can truly enjoy the beauty and excitement of striking out on my own professionally. My head yells at me constantly these days. My heart is trying to remind me that sometimes my head just doesn't make any sense. So far, so good!

Possibly it's to NOT achieve, but to stand witness to grace in all its forms. And to notice and be grateful for everything, as everything IS auspicious.

I would just like to not mess up today, and leave knowing I still have a job in a month.

Is personal peace an "achievement"? I would like to be peaceful in my daily achievements, and remain peaceful knowing that my longer term goals are being achieved with each daily one.

Financial Freedom!!!! We are in our 60's and things are not settled yet. We have a mortgage and my husband's career is evolving but we don't know where it will all land, as it's a brand new direction, forced on us in one way, by mandatory retirement at age 65. Yes, that's right - even though we live in Ontario, the large corporation (Rogers) is exempt from the provincial law that prohibits it. We may never retire (our choice) as that's not who we are (very young in every way). So because Rogers is designated a Federally regulated (communications) company they were going to retire my husband next month when he reaches 65. He took matters into his own hands instead of waiting for that and THEN trying to find a job.
I'm trying out new things (creatively) all the time to find what I'm meant to do, but it's not generating an income that is helpful, so far. So, in addition to the financial freedom I mentioned earlier, we are both exploring our lives with new eyes, great intention and hard work, so the rest is up to the Universe. C'MON!!

To be able to give and take from the world so that we can both become richer in the end. I strive to achieve happiness in all aspects of my life and to help inspire, encourage and help those around me so that they may also reach their idea of success and happiness.

My goal is to be the first one in my family to achieve a college education and continue on to get a Ph.D. Growing up no one really taught me the importance of getting a good education, so I just played around and even when I did try, I often did not do as well as I had hoped. I left home at 16 after going to the police about my step father who molested me on and off for 12 years and even though he admitted to the acts, my mother felt I should be the one to leave so that they could remain a family. Since then I've had very little to no financial or emotional support. Everyone figured I'd just be in the streets like most of the other girls from my neighborhood- but I chose a different route for my life. School has been quite difficult as I pursue a degree in Biology-Ecological emphasis at Humboldt state in California. So when I do graduate it will be my grandest achievement!

To provoke beauty, thought and compassion through emotion and imagination. To push the boundaries against restrictive ideas about love, family, vocation, etc...so that people have the freedom to navigate where they desire in the world to completely fulfill themselves. To create communities and fellowship through art and self-expression.

A new vision of "work". I've got the feeling, working on defining it and making it tangible.

Playwright Jose Rivera said something along the lines of: every time you write you should be putting your career at risk...meaning, write what pushes your own envelope. I am trying to acheive authenticity through asking myself the hardest questions: and wrapping a play, an article, a film, around those questions. I grow and learn through my art and in this very naked process, others just might find catharsis and entertainment if Im honest enough.
