Carrie and Danielle: What are you sensitive to?

  • Pema · 1 year ago
Kindness, realness, a Cuban beat, flay-va, subtlety.
  • Linda Borland-Fitzgerald · 1 year ago
Bass thumping sounds, cigarette smoke, indifference, sun, carbs, stupidity...
  • Eleni · 1 year ago
Animal cruelty, disrespect to the environment, racism, lies.
Kindness, truth spoken through friends to make me a better person.
  • Kim · 1 year ago
My lovers soft touch, warm of the sun.
  • ellabobella · 1 year ago
    Criticism.
  • ellabobella · 1 year ago
And inspiring stories. I'm a crier.
  • textimage · 1 year ago
im part of that club too!
  • Jackie · 1 year ago
I'm a crier too on these sorts of things
  • Linda · 1 year ago
too much perfume or aftershave and other strong odors, rudeness, good manners
  • finola · 1 year ago
beautiful sunsets, scent of frangipani and sweet lime lift me up and away
aggressive argument, unfounded assumptions hurt my sensitivities
  • Jess · 1 year ago
Touch, people's ulterior motives, spicy food as well, music, movies.
I'm just beginning to realize that it's okay to be sensitive.
  • Chantal · 1 year ago
Sensitive to pretty much everything - empathic. This has become a gift in most ways although a long road traveled.
  • CarrieM · 1 year ago
    Been there too!
  • textimage · 1 year ago
i can just answer this as, yes. i am sensitive to a fault... although i don't think of it as a negative quality. my senses are super receptive (light, sounds, taste) as is my mind and heart. i feel HUGE, but i also love and "know" enormously too.
  • fabuleuxparis · 1 year ago
Animal cruelty, unkind people, extremely cold or extremely hot weather, loud noises, the needs and wants of those I love the most, needless critisism, my baby (dog), racism or prejudice.
  • JoeM · 1 year ago
I'm ultra-sensitive to those who give their word and then don't keep it, to those who use people less able to defend themselves against abuse, people who have no concern for others around them, and low flying jets!
  • Traci · 1 year ago
I'm sensitive to a lot of things, but there is one thing that gets me every time. I work in a HUGE medical facility (I've been there 5 years and can still get lost), and it makes me want to curl up in a ball on the elevator floor when I see patients going to appointments alone. I can feel their uncertainty and fear, and it just about paralyzes me.
  • L'Tanya · 1 year ago
Witnessing people set and reach their goals, listening to older people talk about their lives long ago, men who are loving husbands and fathers, a beautiful, natural scene that leaves me speechless, racism/sexism/ageism.
  • Wazzy · 1 year ago
people or animals being treated cruelly or unfairly, lying, music, bright lights.
  • Tabitha · 1 year ago
I am very very sensitive to how other people feel and how they feel about me. Usually, I'm spot on.
  • Tabitha · 1 year ago
    Oh, and smells.
  • weezie · 1 year ago
    Smells, unkindness, grammar & punctuation, witticisms . . .
  • sister trilby scarlett · 1 year ago
Oh, Weezie, you gorgeous creature! Love your grammar and punctuation sensitivity. Misspellings drive me bats. I can catch a typo on a billboard at 70 mph. And the plague of apostrophes that is upon our land! Possessive, not plural! (Sun in Virgo, can't hep it.)
  • Alison · 12 months ago
A Virgo! We'd get along for sure. My sun sign's Capricorn, and we're known for our stubbornness and perfectionism. Wonderful.

You know, whenever I see a stupid typo or error like that, the people around me can actually sense my aggravation. My old High School English teacher actually turned around and said "What is it!?" when I couldn't rip my eyes from one of his errors.
  • sister trilby scarlett · 1 year ago
    Negatively: ugly stinkin judgment.

    Positively: sweet understanding.
  • Lisa Bunting · 1 year ago
Wool, clothing labels, noise, fluorescent light, healthy vs. unhealthy authority, the energy of others
  • MoJo · 1 year ago
Never-ending stimuli, cruelty, yelling, intolerance. Perfect moments of connection and communication.
  • Susie Hutchinson · 1 year ago
    Anything unkind, and yelling.
  • kerrymac · 1 year ago
Chemical fragrances and products, diesel fuel, angry epople's energy, clutter and chaos, and disturbing imagry on Tv and especially horror movie previews that are continually shown! I don't think anyone can possibly benefit from the sick story lines that are being marketed to teens now.

On the positive side I am very sensitive to nurturing, warm people, watching kids draw, aromatherapy, holistic healing, and loving words and gestures from my family and friends.

Completely agree about the horror movie trailers. I used to be fairly oblivious to this stuff, but increasingly I find myself wondering what kind of people this stuff could possibly appeal to. And in turn what kind of people are making this stuff -- constantly escalating the gore and violence.
  • Meredith · 1 year ago
On the bad side: poor grammar, puncuation & spelling; perceived or real slights; small-mindeness; bad manners; confinement (physical & emotional); criticism; biggotry of any kind; cold & pain (I'm a wimp!)

On the good side: others (I'm empathetic and work to spread joy, comfort, the feeling of being welcome and appreciated); beauty in all it's forms (art, music, food, people, moments, beautiful places)
  • brown_eyed_girl · 1 year ago
Just about everything if I'm overtired......
  • Ellen · 12 months ago
Noise, crowds, mood changes, thunderstorms (I can't sleep if one is coming), narrow minds.
  • K. · 12 months ago
I'm a highly sensitive person overall, but things that stand out especially: smells, lights, 'back-handed' compliments, ulterior motives, voices (they reveal so much about people), clutter. And on the good side: touch, genuine smiles, respect, when someone's being genuine, flirtation, rhythm (and music in general.)
  • alligator_kate · 12 months ago
Everything.... It can be rough, but mostly it is a blessing. Energy-- people's and places'. Bodies/nature/animals (In both heart warming and heart rending ways.) Words, rhythms, collective unconscious, dreams, aesthetics.
  • Carolynn · 12 months ago
Chaos in all its manifest forms, cold, animal cruelty, touch, compassion, generosity, beauty.
  • Constance · 12 months ago
Kindness, humor or lack of , sounds and scents I love, animals, especially cats and birds, the voices that matter most, the sky and trees; music and art.
  • Kerry L · 12 months ago
Judgementalism masquerading as self-righteousness, noise. On the other hand -- kindness, respect and silence.
  • leahth · 12 months ago
racism, cruelty to animals, loud noises, cigarette smoke.
    vulnerability, kindness.
  • Alison · 12 months ago
Noise, visual dissonance, pollution... Graffiti, prejudice, bullying, and just about anything crude, tacky or ugly.
  • Kristen · 12 months ago
I am a sensitive mama....I just know when each of my boys needs my special attention.
  • Bridget · 12 months ago
I am sensitive to traffic noises, light in my eyes, not enough light in my house, too many motorized garden tools. I.E. Raking the leaves is great exercise! And clutter.
  • marn · 12 months ago
I am sensitive to hormones, at a certain time of the month... which in turn makes me sensitive to EVERYTHING!! Good, bad, or ugly - :-O
  • Cobby · 12 months ago
I am most sensitive to other people's insensitivity. Raised voices, stepping on people's toes, failing to give credit where it is due and generally treating others badly puts me out of sorts.
  • Alison · 12 months ago
I'm hugely sensitive to lying. I'm one of those people who just needs the truth at all times. I can tell when people hide things and it drives me insane. I always craved truth...
  • kellikat7 · 11 months ago
My mother's moods--I live with her, and if she's having a bad day or upset or angry, it overwhelms anything I'm feeling, unfortunately.
    Other than that:
--the words people use--my love language is "words of affirmation", so praise is good and criticism is bad for me, plus I was an English major, so diction is something I'm keenly aware of, and may inadvertently overanalyze.
--smells, whether good-like the smell of horses or soap on a man's warm skin, or bad-like the smell of too much perfume or not enough deodorant!
--hot weather, which I find incredibly draining and awful.
