Carrie and Danielle: What’s The Secret That Doesn’t Need To Be A Secret Anymore?

  • Mackenzie · 11 months ago
Your AGE! Why can't we all embrace it? It means wisdom, change, beauty...to name a few! A very wise friend of mine said, 'Why can't we all accept how fabulous we are at any stage in life? If you're 60, say, this is how I look at 60, this is how I am SUPPOSED to look at 60 and aren't I fabulous?'. I think it's easier said than done but we can always start somewhere!

1- You have the right to question authority figures, such as doctors - they can be wrong, so take control, do some research, and get a second and/or third opinion before accepting a serious diagnosis and/or prognosis.

2- HRT - Bio Identical hormones can help - get medically tested to see where your hormone levels really are (blood, saliva & hair). If you're suffering and have no quality of life, your hormone levels are likely too low. Don't accept it when you're told your hormones are fine and that it's normal at your age, etc. You don't need to suffer. It's not in your head. You may need all 3 hormones.. seek an expert, get tested and get your life back.

my weight. it's a number, not a judgement. i live in fear of my weight...the number. my self esteem is not tied to that number, and i don't give the number or the people around me the power over me by keeping it secret.

    1. Carbs are GOOD! Eating whole grain & fiber rich breads, pastas & starches are good for you, keep you satisfied, and put you in a MUCH better mood!
    2. Flaws are GOOD! We don;t have to spend our lives trying to be perfect through nips & tucks or self help books. Embrace your flaws they give you character & make you interesting! I've learned to love my chickenpox scar on my left cheek & my hot latin temper...

That there is no perfect anything! It's all in your head, and aiming for perfection usually limits us. When I aim for the most resonant, fun, fully expressed place in me, the outcome is far more expansive.

My friend taught me that you don't have to be a size 2 to be fabulous :) She reminds me to be more forgiving of my body.

A wonderful woman once told me something that I will never forget - it's important to not only be interesting, but INTERESTED! That insight stays with me always! I strive to drink in knowledge, experience, and moments (big and small)! It is a beautiful life when you live with your eyes, ears, and heart open!

And the most obvious... your weight! It's just a number with personal meaning to you only. Better question to ask: how do I feel?

Dairy isn't as good for you as we we've been taught. Most people have a lactose-intolerance to some degree.

I am in a good, healthy relationship. Why do we only seem to talk about flaws in our relationships? I love my wife, and should find that easier to talk about then to complain when there are problems.

Eating Disorders. So many women are held prisoner by the horrible diseases, and no one talks about them. If your friend is looking thinner than usual, if she's exercising obsessively, if she's looking tired, and gaut, and sad, don't just watch and worry silently! Hug her, hold her, tell her that you love her and you are going to help her love herself again.
Love your girlfriends out loud not just in your thoughts, we can all use a little more love, a few more hugs, and another safe place to go to when we are feeling scared, or sad, or small.

That we are connected to everything and everyone - if we were to go out into space and look at the entire Earth under a high powered microscope, everything would be energy particles. This perspective helps you to remember that others are not so different from you and that what you do for another, you also do for yourself.

Things that happen in our life are neither good, nor bad. They are just events. It is our judgement of them as good or bad that makes them feel or seem that way.

The prevalence and effects of child sexual abuse. 25% of women and 20% of men are sexually abused before age 14...and yet our society is so silent on the subject. If one out of every four female children suddenly developed leprosy, or cancer, or had a limb fall off, we would actively be talking about it.
If you have been abused and have not yet processed this injury, I highly recommend finding someone safe to talk to about it. Chances are, you have friends that have had similar experiences.
With the light of our attention, compassion, and awareness, we bring healing to these secret injuries.

    Humans are solar-powered.

We require sunlight, more than we realize. People who want to improve their health should take into account that an indoor gym isn't offering them the same things as being outdoors: We've been spending considerable time outdoors for thousands of years! The sudden evolution of desk-jobs and indoor everything isn't made for us. The sun effects us more than we think.

Success is not achieved by strengthening yourself in the areas in which you are weak. Success is achieved by playing to your strengths. Figure out what you are good at doing and then look for opportunities, professional and personal, in which those strengths are used to your greatest advantage. Finding a spot where those strengths are honored, revered and allowed to grow is the key.

What happens to animals behind laboratory doors is still kept secret--and it shouldn't be. Everyone should know how exactly animals are treated so they can make informed choices about what products to buy and what health charities to support. If more people understood that there are more effective and humane options, we would have a kinder, healthier world.

I learned to follow through to solve challenges while studying chemistry. I live by a paraphrased mantra from chemist Chaim Weizmann, difficult things take a long time, the impossible just takes a little longer.

Having Diabetes. So many people have this chronic disease and are afraid to tell people about it for fear of judgement. I know diabetics who hide their condition from employers, and worse, those who when they have low blood sugar (which can lead to hospitalization) don't tell the people around them, even if they need help. Hug a diabetic today!!

I can admit that I want my lover to be my lover; not my future husband, or friend with benefits, etc., etc. We all need love, physically, and that's fine to acknowledge to ourselves and others.
