He is currently seeing my husband not me. Jim's office was very ordinary and he dressed in a very ordinary way. He did not have high fees. I always paid him more than he asked.
It was all in the eyes. I loved his eyes, blue, compassionate, tender, tough, humourous and occasionaly naughty. I could tell you about some fantasies that could have had me banned from his office but I won't.
I have a female practice supervisor who meets all the crtiera above and is paid for by my workplace. Thank you Te Omanga. Someone I saw recently five times had a down hill walk through huge mature trees and thick ferns. I loved that going down thing into the depths. She was good, well, very good, and dressed in a slightly off beat way that I really liked.
Come to think of it for me it is all about the eyes. Both the women had lovely eyes too.

Re: The Totally Superficial, But Surprisingly Effective Ways to Choose A Therapist

I hope you put some good quality bubbles inside you too

Re: The Totally Superficial, But Surprisingly Effective Ways to Choose A Therapist

Will do - oh wait, I think you already know one of them ;-) I'm putting out my bubbles of intent to the universe...we'll see what transpires! I still visit with my shrink every now and then - she's a scottish woman in her 70's, with great style and an even better sense of humour. In fact I'm going today - since the only opening she had was on my birthday, I thought, hey, why not - that's a great gift to give myself today!

Re: The Totally Superficial, But Surprisingly Effective Ways to Choose A Therapist

Love this post Danielle.I admit that when I was looking for a therapist 10 years ago I interviewed two and their offices were the key factor for me. One was a crowded living room with lots of pillows and mismatched items collected clearly over a long time- couches that were hard to get out of and it smelled like incense covering up dust. The other had a pristine modern office, clean surfaces, beautiful art work (and yes they both dressed to fit their office). Even though the modern was a little more austere than I would have liked, I chose her, and never looked back.
