You nailed this one Danette. I can smell the crayons from here. And from now on I am chucking the markers at my workshops- crayons is definitely the way to go. Thanks,

You do workshops like this? I want in! It sounds like a wonderful thing to be able to do.

I do! If you are in the Toronto area, send me an email and I'll let you know about upcoming workshops. There are many in the making! info@danetterelic.com

I love crayons too - One of my favorite things to do with my daughters is get lost in coloring because of the beauty of it.

I don't know about that cologne though....would you smell like an elementary school teacher :)

Yeah, the cologne just seems wrong...and waxy. I still buy coloring books, and keep them beside the television for commercial breaks. There is nothing like getting lost in color...

Beautifully written Danette! I, too, adore sitting down with my 5 year old and exploring the creative possiblities with a new box of crayons! I hope its one of the memories she carries into adulthood....

Thank you! Children really provide us with that invitation to sit and explore creatively don't they?

This makes me want to buy a jumbo box of crayons right now....

Oh yeah, and the thing that sparks my creative energy (writing) is music. Sometimes I will hear a new song and it illuminates a fictional scene in my head I've never seen before, like a music video. I've gotten an entire novel idea from a song randomly caught off the radio before...

I hear that! Music is such a powerful inspiration for me as well. Amazing how you can access your imagination so vividly from a random song. Do you capture these visions somehow?
