    baby, you sexy...accept in runners.

I'm with Karryn. Feeling ooo-la-la is way more empowering (and therefore productive, at least for me,) than like, practical footwear. I struggle with it daily. But darling, I look marvelous. Life's way too short to daily with the fugly.

I wish these weren't the only two choices. I want sexy style and comfort! With all the creative geniuses out there this must be possible! In the meantime, my preference is a beautiful pedi and bare feet whenever I can.

    Karryn,
As a fellow transit commuter and shoe lover who refuses to wear "Really Good Walking Shoes" I have one wholehearted recommendation: Cole Haan. The only brand I've found where true comfort and style consistently co-exist. A genius move from this designer - incorporating Nike air technology into fashionable women's shoes. Each pair has proven to be a great investment. Mine are saying "don't I look good?" on the outside and "I'm so sensible" on the inside...I only wish I had heeded the mantra "when the shoe fits buy it in every color" ;)

Just checked it out - I'm starting a new fund: the Cole Haan fund. Thank you for this tip! LOVE IT!

I too was a commuter for four years and found that Cole Haans are the best non-fugly shoes for commuters. The funny thing is that considering what shoes I really love and what they say about my style was the first "aha moment" for me in the work I've been doing on figuring out my style statement. Yes, shoes are totally the foundation for the external manifestation of who we fundamentally are on the inside. Nothing shallow about that.

Nicely put! "Shoes are the foundation for the external manifestation of who we fundamentally are on the inside." Wish I'd said that....I shall unleash my inner-sexpot through footwear. Woo hoo!
