It also shows up for me while I'm moving. Usually by the time I get in a place where I can write down my ideas, I've already forgotten them. I've decided to buy a little tape recorder so I can scoop up ideas when they come.

it can happen for me if as soon as i wake up i lay in bed and just let thoughts flow, stream of consciousness - style.
i think that state between sleeping and awake is pretty magical
lucid and free

I often joke that my muse is like a little kid -- she'll hit me over the head when I'm least expecting it, and I have to answer her NOW. (Meaning, usually, sit down and write.) If I don't, she'll go away for weeks or months at a time.

I've learned just to put stuff aside and listen.

Perfect day to read this...I took out Johnothan L.S. book to start reading with my eldest last week. We found a plaque that had been given to his Great Grandfather (whom he never met) that said "To Pat, our Johnathon Livingston Seagull, it got us curious.
My fairy usually comes around at about 3 a.m. and stirs me to get up and grab my journal.
Last weekend I took almost exactly the same photo at Rockridge Canyon...the water was still and sparkling and I could have sat there all day.
