Carrie and Danielle: The Geek Shall Inherit the Earth

snort...how clever can any one person be? to be able to tap into both sides of ones brain the way you do (brilliant creative person AND able to program HTML and fix a server????). The world would be a far better place if we could have more people around JUST LIKE YOU.

a big fan (you know who it is)

Oh, that this were true. Alas, I don't know how to fix a server. Other than tip him very well.

"The geek shall inherit the earth," or at least Bill Gates' kids might. :)

Actually, it doesn't take too much to keep us geeks happy - a steady stream of Diet Coke/Redbull/etc is usually enough. And while I'm here, kudos to the C&D geeks and designers for their work on this site. I know there have been a couple of glitches lately, but otherwise it's very nicely put together.

Our geeks facilitate our quantum leaps. I bow. I applaud. Cheque's in the mail.

I really enjoyed reading this article. Being somewhat computer illiterate (well really I screw things up royally on a regular basis) but my wife, son and son-in-law usually rescue me and put things right again. You have a very humourus way of expressing what happens to many people on a daily basis. Somewhat akin to reading, rather than watching, a scene from a Seinfeld TV program, so keep up the good work and sense of humour.

There is nothing more frustrating! Computers cannot be reasoned with, threatened or even held hostage effectively. While you praise the programmers, I think a small background application that connected to Apple, Microsoft, Ubutu, etc and delivered a mild electric shock to unmentionable parts of the programmers every time something went wrong or crashed would result in much better programs and operating systems.

To solve your problem, I suggest full back ups. A computer cannot crash unless it contains unbacked up data. The more important the data, the more unstable the computer becomes. Never ride a bus on April 30th with everyone madly trying to complete their taxes on their laptops. I can just imagine the carnage as HD platters spin through the air and to accompany wonderful text like. "C drive? Cannot find C drive." Ah, the smell of molten silicon in the afternoon!

But I digress. The real reason for the computer problems is your server does not have a STYLE STATEMENT. It needs one and we need to find it. "Antique rubbish", "soulless silicon", "binary Beelzebub" just some thoughts. I'll let the experts pick the winner.
