We are on our third day at home with nothing but llamas, snow and a collapsed ginger bread house and it is truly bringing out the spirit of the season. Sometimes I need nature to force me into being slow.

Re: Slow Food and Family: Savoring the good things in life

We struggled for a long time to slow our life and family down while still living in a fast-paced city environment. With our recent move to a rural setting, we're finally finding ways to instill that Peace and natural rhythm in our daily lives, and seeing even more clearly how crowded our lives were before. Not that everyone has to (or can) move to the country, but it's sure been the slow kick in the britches that we needed.

Re: Slow Food and Family: Savoring the good things in life

wow, virtual family, now there is a moniker that makes me shudder.

michelle, why is it that we need a label? i don't know, but it helps me to somehow to know that i'm part of something bigger. it's not just our family doing our best to slow down, that there are resources out there and available to us. In so many ways we are returning to what once was. Food, family....

Re: Slow Food and Family: Savoring the good things in life

EUREKA!!! The power of words, a name, a concept. Thank you Sarah and C&D for bringing SLOW FAMILY to my consciousness. It's what we've been moving toward and wanting more of. It helps me enormously to have this lable, name, umbrella, shingle.... why is that? .

Re: Slow Food and Family: Savoring the good things in life

Bernadette - we'd love to know what you're up to - very inspiring.
Danielle

Re: Slow Food and Family: Savoring the good things in life

Hey there! So glad you found our manifesto. We are about to launch several simple tools for families so that they can begin to slow things down in their own homes, with their own families. We are currently doing classes here in Austin, TX but the launching of our virtual materials will help families everywhere tune into their own needs and desires for slower family living. Stay tuned!
