When I was in my teens I lacked the confidence to want to shake hands I though it was "silly" now I love to shake handand always offer mine first. I agree it says alot about a person thew hole way they shake hands
I love it more when its someone I know and we can give each other a BIG heart to heart hug. In NZ the Maori (First People of NZ) touch noses and this exchanges the Wairua which is the breath of life the Spirit.

My daughter just turned three last week. She actually walks up to people and says "Hi, I'm Jade" and holds out her hand to shake hands. We used to play a game when she was learing her name, where I would shake her hand and tell her my name...now she uses it everyday. And she's got a good firm grip ;-)

Completely agree about women engaging in a firm handshake. My girlfriends and I started to do so back in university and I haven't stopped. It's a sign of confidence and strength.
