Carrie and Danielle: Looking for a Teacher… and Finding the Love Guru

  • Rachel Berger · 1 year ago
Really enjoyed this; a new take on an old story. In 1967 we had 'To Sir With Love' and today the 'Love Guru'. It seems that each new generation has to learn the same lessons as the preceeding one. Is it too much to hope for that we could pass on to our offspring the lessons already learnt so that they may strive for a higher plane?

Unfortunately, experiences like the one above can not be passed on.... this is why they are called experiences. What you mention, I have wished for many times.... you have reminded me my mother... she used to share her experiences in life - to pass us useful information in order to avoid similar mistakes. Strangely enough, I made almost the same mistakes, as if I have never heard a single one of these stories ever in my life!
It seems that we all have to go through the same (or similar) journey to discover love...

So true Rachel & Eleni - if only we could absorb the wisdom of those who have come before us! And also, true, it is the experience itself that provides the learning, specially tailored to our needs and circumstances...

    Very astute observations :)
In my own ongoing journey I have not always recieved what I've asked for, but rather that which I have needed (which oddly enough I would have never asked for!)
It's caused growth, which at times was nothing short of painful, but I am learning that often times the universe knows a lot better than I do what's best for me. The hard part is realizing, opening up to and accepting that, just maybe, I don't know everything :)
    Glad I'm not alone!

: Finally a quiet weekend alone on our farm, the kids and I will enjoy cleaning the chicken coop, building a fort, cycling, and gathering rotten wood and branches for a bonfire veggie-dog roast with the neighbors. And quiet nights by the fire to read, write and miss my wife (teaching a weekend birthing class in Vancouver)

I always seem to fall in love or be magnetically drawn towards my teachers... maybe i should listen more to this, and dig deeper for the other meanings associated with this attraction. Thanks for the insights...

Well I guess it follows that we are attracted to that which inpsires us and reflects back to us our own potential - so in a roundabout way, it all leads back to self love. I was lucky enough to find someone who had enough integrity to see my 'stuff' for what it was, and act accordingly (as much as it pi**ed me off at the time!) It served me well - I hope you find the same Lindsay. M xo

It is a fine balance between knowing when we need a teacher and being our own teacher.

So true. That's one of the things I adore about Style Statement - it facilitates an individual's learning process through reflection, as opposed to preaching a truth. Such a razor's edge and so masterfully accomplished!

I could really feel the emotions flowing from this. I enjoyed this. It's a relaxing read that really triggered my imagination. I have a cousin who is in the same situation and she's been single for about a year now. She's still soul searching though and she still thinks she needs a boyfriends. I think she has a lot of maturing to do before having another relationship.

Thanks. I was lucky (and hell-bent on working out some of my crap). It was an intense time, glad I was able to convey some of the emotions, or that you picked up on them ;-)
