Carrie and Danielle: In terms of Creativity, what are you attracted to?

  • Elizabeth · 1 year ago
Creativity is attraction. Creativity is collaboration. True collaborations can be amazing, selfless journeys. In the process of lifting another's imagination, I soar.
  • Romana Mirza · 1 year ago
change. Changing it up, going outside of your world into another. It inspires wonderful creativity!
  • Chantal · 1 year ago
I'm attracted to the expansion of one's self, expanded mind, heart & soul. Sometimes being connected to another time, another place where there are no boundaries or limitations.
  • Kristin · 1 year ago
Otherness - places far away, and the lifestyles of those who live in these places. Travel and exploring to see how others define creativity, be it through architecture, a garden, clothing, or conventional art. Creativity should stimulate and question our boundaries.

    This is a good one.

I am attracted to raw emotion and introspection. It is in honesty that true colors come about and forms are shaped. I see this in the work of Frida Khalo.
  • Kirsty · 1 year ago
Connecting with people who’ve got ideas about making positive change, be it through a festival, a book, a painting, an exhibit or a community gathering. People who laugh and smile. And words strung-together like a great painting or a textured piece of pottery.

It's easy to be creative in a free society. I'm attracted to those who have the courage, the free spirit, the heart and soul to rise above the tyranny in the expression of their creative art. Those who are able to use their creative ability to inspire people to think beyond the state of their oppression, even at great risk to themselves.

I find myself attracted and compelled to create something from nothing. That can manifest through my art from mementos you don't know what to do with, through helping my child build a killer science project display, through words that move people in my presentations or find there way into my art, and through looking at all situations and seeing possibilities. I think this comes from my need to see hope, value and inspiration from things other see as nothing. Something from nothing; isn't that what we all are?

I love both words Creativity and Celebration. I recently went to my very good friends, what we thought was Barbara Crompton's partners 60th birthday at Gambier on a very sunny day. And as we were sipping our drinks and lavishing in the sun they stood on the rocks and announced we were at a wedding. We all burst in to tears of joy and love. That was it for me, I was in heavenly bliss.

I am attracted to familiar things (re)combined in new, fresh or original ways. Making the obvious (and therefore invisible) suddenly visible...and delightful.
  • Ella · 1 year ago
Creativity for me comes in little pieces, like threads, and I haven't figured out yet how to make them all fit together. That part will come. For now I enjoy compiling.

"There is nothing new under the sun." I love to see creativity that makes me look at something I have seen before in a new and unexpected way. Creativity that is transformative. Creativity that is open to possibilities. Tadao Ando's room for Monet's Waterlilies in the Chichu Museum - it made me see these paintings in a new and very moving way - these paintings that I have seen a million times in the dorm rooms of moony girls and maiden aunts - these paintings that had become almost trite through overexposure.
  • Krystl · 1 year ago
oops, not that maiden aunts are living in dorm rooms... :)

Inner beauty, innocence, pure passion and genuine concern for others attract me. My heart is drawn to any good people and good causes (world hunger, world peace, etc). My cousin Natalie and I call each other "sappy" when we cry for "the little boy" from the movie "Antwone Fisher" starring Denzel Washington. My life long goal will always be to CRY, EMPATHIZE & DO EVERYTHING IN MY POWER TO HELP "THE LITTLE BOY" whomever that maybe that crosses my lifespace. AND this in turn is what makes me BEAUTIFUL & CREATIVE! My ability to see the potential BEAUTY and CREATIVITY in even the most dismal circumstances.

I work with women who have multiple personalities and am constantly in awe of their delicious ability to create new worlds, new selves, new systems, new everything. They create and distill life and beauty from pain and torture.

I am most attracted to dance. I am not a physically graceful person so I am in awe of people who can move their bodies rythymically and in time to music to create a stunning visual presentation. I particularly love large modern dance groups when they perform to modern music. The concept of each individul being part of a greater whole that floats and moves as if it were one being instead of many tends to rock me to my core. The same kind of attraction to the oneness of many attracts me to marching bands too. I cry every time we go to a Georgia football game and go down into the hollow to hear the band play as they collective welcome and cheer the football team as they walk into the stadium. I see a theme emerging here that I hadn't noticed before.

colors, the smell of crayons, the cool smushiness of fingerpaints, a blank canvas, hobby shops, miniature anythings, farmer's market, art bazaars, old books and magazines, sidewalk chalk, textures, flavors, scents. juicy poetry, ripe prose, dancing, music, unbridled self-expression.

Creativity....Attraction...Two words that complement each other perfectly. I'm attracted to creative, beautiful, delicious food and my creative, beautiful, delicious boyfriend. Children are also wonderful to be around because they ignite my own imagination when I play with them. I'm attracted to books that allow for my imagination to visit other lands and other experiences. I'm attracted to orchids they always bring a smile to my face...I can look at one and I'm in awe of their beauty and that beauty inspires me to create.

Gardening. Whether it's taking inspiration from my neighbour's pristine everchanging yard, or the overflowing English garden down the street, or the wonders of an alpine meadow. The kind of creation where you explore how to build strong root sytems to allow the best potential to develop. Kind of like child rearing - it involves a trust in nature and a helping hand to encourage emergence.

I think creativity is in all of us. What's missing from many of us is bravery. Bravery to express it openly. After a while those of us who are scared get detached from our creativity and it seems like it's no longer there.

I'm definitely attracted to people brave enough to express their creativity.
  • Lindsey · 1 year ago
The bravery and feedom attached to releasing something unfettered by social customs: a free-style painting, dancing in the park, laughing out loud--by yourself walking down the street, daring to do something new.

    Simplicity.

I'm most inspired by creativity when I see something that is inherently complex or difficult presented/executed/taught in a simple, elegant way.

Every so often I will simply spent a day rearranging the precious things around my house. Not the heavy furniture just the smaller easy to shift things (The accesories if you will). The eye is delighted in smaller things rearranged in unexpected new ways and combinations.

Reading great nonfiction writers. Some books read slowly and deliberately once a year spark off great creative thinking measured against life experience.

I also love seeing a good idea of mine embellished and improved by someone else. Creativity as a process. The originality of one person built on by another. A great way to experience being part of community.

I am attracted to light, and to those who see. Ingenuity is attractive, but it seems to me to be a kind of echo of creativity. Creativity seems to me to be the ability to see light and make it seen. Paintings that are somehow "about" the light that is in them ... rooms arranged around the light and not hiding from it ... clarity of inner vision because of something an author or musician has done ... for me, it's all about light. The creative acts that happen in a setting of things "without form and void" are all creative acts of letting there be light, and all creativity shines, I think.

Creativity and Celebration are the DNA to our souls - We are creative living human beings and when we reognize that in ourselves and in others we bring life to all that we do and imagine. Celebration builds healthy beings - in turn healthy communitties.

Creativity is god expressing himself through you. Everyone does something creativity. It might be music, writing, painting or the like. But creativity is the source of God within.

I am attracted to "potential" and the "possibilities" of life - and acknowledging my and others creativity and the impact it can have on changing one's outloook on life.

These "possibilities" and "potential" in my life and all the encompasses (Lifestyle map contents/sections)- every minute I am aware of my creativity and access it - and the creativity of others I am blessed.

I am attracted to those who don't set boundaries on their creativity and potential. Who allow creativity to pop up throughout the day in little ways with out seeking approval or applause. "Just because...".

As Julia Camerson says, we are all creative beings - full of spirit and creativity. We just have to recognize, nurture and treasure it - on all levels.I am attracted like a moth to a flame to these types of "beings".

A coonection is always present when it comes to creativity - if your willing to see in your daily life - the opportunities and people that prsent themselves. For a minute or a lifetime.

i.e. The way the clerk in the produce section stacks the fruit; a quick wit that relives the tension at just the right time; Pop bottles filled with different coloured waters on a window sill; a street person whose outfit has some drama and creativity despite their circumstances. All are being creative and celebrating their own authenticity and style in their own way - aware or unaware of it.

One of the world's most creative beings said, "As a well spent day brings happy sleep, so life well used brings happy death."
    Leonardo da Vinci

I say use your life to be creative and live your life authetically - and of course with style! That will be a wlll spent and happy life - Don't ya think!
    Cheers!

Uniqueness! It always amazes me to see how individuals can look at a simple object and then create an incredible masterpiece from that. Everyone has their own vision, but I find them all to be very inspiring and nourishing to my soul.

Creativity is a change of mindset. Suddenly the world change, everything has a story, every person has a lifetime of histories to tell. Creativity is communication a. creativity is seeing opportunities in any prospect, turning the world upside down to get our attention and communicate. At the deepest level creativity is the humans primal language, we all relate to it in one way or another

I love great dialogue, words that people say in film and tv. When a character has a life altering epiphany that leaves me feeling connected to their journey, like I am right there with them.
