Carrie and Danielle: If you had an audience of a billion people, what would you say?

  • Guylaine · 1 year ago
You have the power... Funny how today's question brought back the wish I suppose we all have in our late teens and early twenties to "change the world". But today, older and wiser, I would say "you have the power within yourself to change yourself, your life and YOUR world and, by doing so, to inspire your entourage... and that's already a contribution for a better world..

And I would also say, for the sake of our children, let's all do something for the environment and save the future of this lovely planet...

All you have to do is be who you are.

Instantly I thought of something I heard Amy Goodman say at a speaking event in my community: It's 2008, we don't need to wage wars anymore. We know other ways to resolve conflict. People everywhere are creative and compassionate and smart and we have the capacity to end war.

I would ask the leaders of the world to look deep within their hearts and insist that they begin to live and govern in an authentic way. I would let them know that war is not a means to achieve peace. I would send them each a copy of Style Statement.

I would say...stay true to who you are. Never sway, for there is only one of you. You're the only one who has that particular insight, suggestion. Be proud of your ideas, you're the only one that can express them exactly the way you do, we need everyone's voice to be heard.
  • amy power · 1 year ago
I would say to them all...Listen intensely to those around you. Read voraciously. Talk little. Those who constantly talk, never have anything to say.
  • Chantal · 1 year ago
I wish to support women in their authenticity, celebrating every age, size and color. I encourage women to step outside of cultural parameters, to love themselves, and to discover their unique strengths and gifts.

There are endless forms of beauty that you can experience and express. As beauty grows and flowers from within, it naturally expands to all aspects of life.

    May you walk in Beauty

To add to Guylaine; not only does every one have the power with in themselves right this very moment - there is nothing you need to do to get that power - You can have, do or be anything you desire. The trick, though, is knowing exactly what it is that you really, really want.
  • Kristin · 1 year ago
Consider the consequences of your actions. Does what you do promote understanding, positivity, and love? Does what you do cause others to suffer, feel inadequate, or hurt? Are you respecting the planet? Most importantly, are you respecting yourself by being the best person you can be?

Interestng perception about talkative people... Who is it you are listening to?

What I would say, to a billion people, is, to find a way to start loving one another, and to take care of our precious planet.

"This is what I believe: That I am I, that my soul is a dark forest.
That my known self will never be more than a little clearing in the forest. That gods, strange gods, come forth from the forest into the clearing of my known self, and then go back. That I must have the courage to let them come and go. That I will never let mankind put anything over me, but that I will try always to recognize and submit to the gods in me and the gods in other men and women. There is my creed."

"You're a genius! All of us come from the factory wired for genius. It's who no one else but you can be and what no one else but you can do. You're perhaps aware of some of your genius which is an excellent start. Keep going. Refuse to cheat yourself and the world by bringing a dumbed down version of yourself to the rest of us. Discover, develop and deliver your genius...it's your life's purpose!"
  • Danielle · 1 year ago
D.H. is so intense. Love him. Thanks for this.
  • Danielle · 1 year ago
WHOLE HEARTEDLY, deeply agree. And isn't it divine that your genius is your bliss?

I am writing this on behalf of Natalie, my six year old daughter -

" Mama, I would BILLION people 'Be smart in you head, and have love and laughter in your heart.' That's all they need to know mama. Then people will be good, and do good things...but why do i have to tell them that. Don't they know it already?"

Live your life with honesty and integrity. You will sleep much better at night and we all know how important a good nights rest is. Oh...one more thing, don't take yourself sooooo serious! ;)

Whoa...that is a biggie. I would say: Open your heart and trust it! ...be kind, generous, honest and grateful...the rest will come.

Do all the good you can, by all the means you can, in all the ways you can, in all the places you can, at all the times you can, to all the people you can, as long as ever you can - John Wesley

It's all about kindness...."The Sufis advise us to speak only after our words have managed to pass through three gates. At the first gate, we must ask ourselves, 'Are these words true?' If so, we let them pass on; if not, back they go. At the second gate, we must ask ourselves, 'Are these words necessary?' If so, we let them pass on; if not, back they go. At the last gate, we must ask, 'Are they kind?" Eknath Easwaran

(both from my fave new book..after Style Statement!...."Highlighted in Yellow).

Every person has something to offer... Never overlook someone because they are different, or seem insignificant. Every person can add something of value to your life.

What talkative people, who have nothing to say, are you listening to, and why? - that is a rhetoricl question, lik the one before?
  • lezin bogan · 1 year ago
if i had an audience of 1 billion people i would tell them to never leave the people that you love the most without saying to them "i love you." it may be the last time that you see them. i cherish my friends, i love my parents and siblings and most of all i love with all of my heart, my husband and my son. i never leave their presence without saying "i love you."

In every moment of challenge, just breathe. Breathe deeply. Also, smile at strangers. (We are united in laughter, and see ourselves reflected back in someone completely different when we share a smile.)
  • Cathy · 1 year ago
Pause. Breathe. Be aware of the energy that surrounds you. Courses through you. Realize how connected it all is. We all are.

I would say, "Go outside, right now. Turn your face to the sun (or stars, or moon, or rain, or snow, or clouds) - then dance. Dance exactly as you are inspired. Just keep dancing - in your heart, mind, spirit. Dance."

Be exceptionally kind to your children. Don't abandon them. Don't hurt them. Don't think they will love you forever just because you're the parent, earn their respect.

I would repeat what Nelson Mandella said, that our greatest fear is not that we are inadequate but that we are powerful beyond measure.
  • Beth C. · 1 year ago
I would tell them that the Golden Rule has never been more applicable than now. I would say that we must learn to exercise greater graciousness, gentility and kindness to ourselves and to others. Breaking bread together, hugging telling people that they are wonderful adn that you value them are all things that we do too little of in the policitcally correct world in which we now live.

Never stop learning - whether it is spiritual, emotional, or intellectual, listen carefully, read and evaluate what you read, feel and interpret honestly. Life and experience has so much to teach us, but we have to be ready to listen and learn. The "dumbest", "slowest", "dirtiest", "cruelest", "nastiest" person (and all other worst scenario we can imagine) still has something to teach us about ourselves and others. Be open and ready to learn!

Danielle, I thought your message was a good one; until you wanted to remind the masses to order a copy of your book. That ruined it for me. So I suppose you know and knew that your message would really only be about promoting yourself. Come on, you know.

Put God first. Love your neighbor as you love yourself.
SAVE & INVEST love, money & time and it will INCREASE!

    Do what you LOVE!
    Don't follow the crowd!

    Express yourself!
    Take risks!

Trace your family tree. Learn from which lineage you've come. Cherish your family. Spend time with relatives and listen to their wisdom and stories.

When you die, it doesn't matter what you owned....but who you helped!

I get what you mean Meredith. And I see your point. But it seems that many of the views and answers by C and D lead straight to Amazon.com Which to me makes the Q&A marketing ploys for all things listed on Amazon. Call me negative or call it straight up. Call a spade a spade.

I'm on the fence with my views on Style Statment and even moreso since clicking on the BLUE LETTERS and being led to Amazon.

Relax !!! And have more fun! Don`t be sooooooo serious! And listen to your gut, it tells you everything you wan`t to know. Life is not that complex, really. All you need to do is love yourself unconditionally. When you love yourself , life takes a whole new direction. Be a giver as well and do some volunteer work!
