The Power of Your Subconscious Mind by Joseph Murphy,

"THERE ARE NO LIMITS TO THE PROSPERITY, HAPPINESS, AND PEACE OF MIND YOU CAN ACHIEVE SIMPLY BY USING THE POWER OF THE SUBCONSCIOUS MIND"

The Little Prince, by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. I love his courage and his insatiable curiosity. And there are great illustrations, too!

Would definitely be a Wayne Dyer book. Not sure which one though. Too many to decide.

    Herman Hesse´s Siddhartha

    The complete E.E. Cummings.

Eleven Minutes by Paulo Coelho. Anything written by Paulo Coelho would keep me inspired and spiritually rejuvenated.

Women Who Run with the Wolves by Clarissa Pinkola Estes sounds right to me at this moment in my life. There are so many stories and so much insight.

Right now it would be "The Joy of Living" by Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche (a Buddhist monk who explores how brain science gels with Buddhist philosophy)

This is a tough question for me- I love my books! Hmmmm- it would be a tie between "Time Enough for Love" by Robert A. Heinlein, and The Complete (& unabridged) "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" series by Douglas Adams.

    Too easy.

"A Testament of Hope" by Martin Luther King - it's inspiring, thought-provoking, intellectual and endlessly fulfilling.

Either "Pride & Prejudice" (I could spend every day with Mr. Darcy) or the Harry Potter series.
  • Kerry L · 10 months ago
    The Bible.

This one might seem weird, but it's fiction for those thinking about the future - The Fifth Sacred Thing by Starhawk.

It's a tie between "Conversations with God" by Neale Donald Walsch or the "Bhagavad Gita". Both are packed with information to address just about any situation in your life.

funny, the gita is up there for me too.

I would actually take my own, The Acceptance Diet, and finish it up and send it off (which is what I am doing right now... and so focused upon that I can say honestly is the only true answer for me right now).

Next week, after it is sent off, I will consider what other book I might take with me, but for now..... it is my own.

Without a doubt, Jane Austen's 1813 novel Pride and Prejudice. Or if I couldn't find that, any of her books or one of Edith Wharton's.

    Ramtha: The White Book

I love so many books, but I would take the Bible over than all. It's got everything: romance, drama, history, genealogy, songs, biographies, words of wisdom & more. It has unwavering advice for these inconstant times.

    Atlas Shrugged, by Ayn Rand

Integral Life Practice: A 21st-Century Blueprint for Physical Health, Emotional Balance, Mental Clarity, and Spiritual Awakening by Ken Wilber, Terry Patten, Adam Leonard, Marco Morelli

I would go with The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams. I always find a chuckle within a few pages. It's totally familiar absurdity that comforts me when I think things are getting too wierd.

I have a little leather bound journal that I have been handwriting my favorite poems (by other people) into for years now-- maybe 2 or 3 poems a year. It is like a prayer book, but with poems. That book would get me through anything. Prufrock and Burnt Norton by T.S. Eliot, poems by Emily Dickinson, Shakespeare, Seamus Heany, Thomas Hardy, Mary Oliver, Tess Gallagher, Rita Dove, Ann Carson... just to name a few. It feeds my soul, and I always take it with me when I travel.

"Marjorie Morningstar" by Herman Wouk. I never thought it was my favorite until I started feeling a need to read it about every other year.

This is so difficult; but it came to me intuitively, so I'd say:MAKING THE GODS WORK FOR YOU,
by Carollne Casey. It's a fantastic astrology/cosmology book and it's brilliant and fun.

I'm not sure. Maybe a picture book, but if I had to pick one for self-education, it'd be a Caroline Myss book, like "Why people don't heal, and how they can".
  • textimage · 10 months ago
"Einstein's Dreams" by Alan Lightman. It but a wee book, but so poetic and wise. I think having to visit it over and over again would be a delight.
  • Cobby · 10 months ago
Wow, that's an incredibly hard question. Assuming I couldn't take a Kindle, I'd have some serious soul searching to pick just one. My gut says that I would choose either East of Eden or The Red Tent if I were absolutely forced to pick one book.

The Artist's Way by Julia Cameron, a revolutionary book that helps you tap into your own latent creative juices/genius/artist :)! Something we all could benefit from.
