Sorry if I was not clear - it is very common to hear NYC residents being proud of themselves for living there. Proud for having gotten in 'in time' or simply having the money to live there. Living there is so much better than anyplace else, right? We're so "thankful" we live here. Maybe it's just me. Maybe I'm jealous.

After reading this interview and GR's interview with you, the only negative thing that stands out to me is the smugness of NYC residents. Gotta watch that ego - it is antithetical to happiness.

I love Gretchen's rule to "Be Gretchen." (Or whoever you may be!) It seems we sometimes resist being ourselves, and when the resistance drops, contentment rises. It's nice to really know, and to identify, what moves us.
