Carrie and Danielle: C&D’s Letter to Oprah

  • Laura Wershler · 1 year ago
What a delightful letter. C & D - you are truly beautiful communicators. I can't think of anything more suited to Oprah's show than Style Statement.

The producers could build a whole week of shows around SS by demonstrating it's impact on our decision making in every facet of our lives: fashion, interior design, relationships, how we entertain, where and how we choose to work and how SS can simplify and beautify our lives.

It's been exactly two years since I and my friend, Susan, travelled to Vancouver to receive our Style Statements. Barely a day has gone by that I've not applied mine to make what you so accurately call "powerful choices". My Style Statement comforts, delights and energizes me. It has taken me on a journey of self discovery that I embrace with ease and enthusiasm.

Here's to sharing with Oprah the fun, exploration and power that comes with having and living your Style Statement!

This is a beautiful piece of written artistry, as is your book. I can't wait to watch you both on Oprah, making your extraordinary tools available to her millions of viewers, and changing the world (quite literally) because of the experience. Even just from reading this letter, I am more inspired and motivated to live my own greatness. Y'all rock!

Here is my letter to Oprah's staff on your book - (The second I have sent on the book Style Statement), but I took a different slant....

    Dearest Oprah and Staff,
Syncronicity just happ3ened and I want you and your viewers to benefit like I have...

I just finished two amazing books that I think would make a terrific series when combined for your viewers....The First book is: "The Style Statement - Live By Your Own Design." by Carrie McCarthy & Danielle LaPorte. The authors explain that your Style Statement defines your essential self - your "real" and authentic self. It’s a two-word touchstone for making more powerful choices in your life i.e. Your statement defines how you look. It’s how you conduct business and work. How you socialize. It’s what you buy and give and create. What interest or volunteering you do? Your home decor. Leisure activities.

What makes this book so effective is that it operates on the power of the 80/20 principle: the first word represents your fundamental nature, your 80% presence. The second word is your creative edge, the 20% that motivates and distinguishes you in the world!

Now that you have an understanding of essential self - your authentic self - how do you express that?

The second book is "Staging Your Comeback - A Complete Beauty Revival for Women over 45" by Christopher Hopkins. “When who you’ve become is expressed by how you look, you are beautiful,” says Christopher. (Christopher has been on the Oprah show twice already - and just published this new book....)

The first book helps you to figure out your authentic self and how to live your life authentically. The second book shows you how to express that authentic self to the world with your image and first impression - best of all it's written for women in their second stage of life - After 45! Fiinally a beauty book I can relate to and one that is realistic!

The two books combined would be life-changing to many people and appeal to all incomes. Especially for women like me who are finally ready to live their life authentically, but have no idea how to do that and what that looks like?

These books and authors guide you to uncovering "self" and touching the reader's souls from the inside out....

Style Statement allowed me to be happy with myself and not have the urge to compare myself with other women for the first time in my life, and The Style Comeback is making me take stock in who I really and challenging me to put my 'real' self out there - from head to toe.

Both books offer advice I can actually follow! Rare in "self-help" books these days – Both have tried and true theories with real life examples of real people – with concrete steps and advice.

You just have to do a series with these two books and their authors...I know people have been waiting for this...Both these books had so many light bulb moments for me that my world has never been brighter or more positive!

I am not connected to any of the authors - just want others to benefit and improve their lives.

I bet even Oprah could learn a thing or two. Learn her Vertical Body Shape" or Style Statement and how that impact her life on many levels she wasn't even aware of?

I'm sure this series it will be informative and fun for her - I'm convinced of it!
    Cheers!

    Dearest Carries and Danielle

I hope you do get on Oprah but even if you don't remember the world can be changed one person at a time. Your work is truely life changing.

Carrie, you did my style statement back in February and I was totally delighted by it. Things got moved, plans got made and husband was delighted.

When your book was published I changed my 80% word. I could NEVER have chosen my 20% word by myself and I will be always and forever grateful for the time I spent with you. So are all my frinds and family. Everyone I come in contact with in fact. A deeper part of me (one that I could hardly dare beleive in) has finally flowered.

I can understand why you would value the chance to appear on Oprah but never underestimate the power of the media and the savvy ways you are already out there. I have never used a blog before yours (I am 61 after all) but it is a valued moment in the beginning of my day. Make latte, turn on lap top, get inspired.

Whether you two get featured on Oprah sooner or later, you've certainly changed my life for the better. Be proud of yourselves, C&D, what you've done is given self-expression clarity. So beautiful.
